In Ancient Greek, Medusa means guardian or protectress. Mythic legend and mother of Pegasus, the gold-winged Gorgon serpent bearer began life as a princess and priestess of Athena. She was transformed from her human form by Athena’s jealous wrath after her love affair with Poseidon.
